Serena was born in Hong Kong and moved to Kent , England at the age of two. Her interest in art began at a very early age as did her fascination of the natural world. As a full time artist based in Brighton , she is inspired by both the ever changing hypnotic beauty of the sea and the surrounding Sussex countryside.

It is the beauty of nature and the environment that are the key focal points of her recent work. In particular, the great outdoors, calm and tranquil places and hidden locations which portray an air of mystery. Serena’s paintings reflect a sense of solitude and the breathtaking beauty of quiet open spaces which, as time goes on, can become harder and harder to find in this world we live in.

Serena’s studies have included a B/Tec Diploma in window dressing at The College of Distributive Trades in London .

As a keen photographer she has travelled extensively in Asia , exploring remote areas in Burma , Thailand and the Philippines . It is her keen photographic eye that enables her to give her paintings such a sense of perspective and scale. She has developed her own, very unique technique of oil painting on canvas, whilst the paint is still wet Serena partly scratches away the image to reveal the base colour underneath.
